Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues,
I am conducting research as part of my doctoral studies that will be looking at acculturation, ethnic identity, social support, personality characteristics, coping styles, and early memories in a population of people ages 18 and older of Caribbean descent. I am recruiting people who have both immigrated to the United States, or who were born to parent(s) who emigrated from the Caribbean. The purpose of this study is to explore the factors that contribute to the mental health and assimilation of individuals of Caribbean descent into the U.S. culture as well as examine the narratives of Caribbean people through their early memories.
All information provided will be completely confidential and will not be linked to participants in any way except for research purposes, in which the participants’ names will not be attached to any of the information shared, nor will they be identified in any way.
Participants will be asked to fill out a series of online questionnaires and some open-ended questions. This study should take between approximately 90 minutes or less to complete. Participation in this study is completely voluntary and participants are free to stop at any point, even before completing the tasks, without consequences. Participants will have a chance to enter a drawing for the opportunity to win one of three Amazon gift cards valued at $100 each. Also, their contribution will be valuable in helping psychologists better serve the Caribbean community in developing adaptive strategies to coping with life in the Caribbean diaspora.
Those interested in participating in the study should paste the following link in their web browser: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/cholderadelphi.Participants will be asked to read and complete an informed consent form and then be directed to the survey.
